Hummus

I love hummus.  This is an easy recipe-no fancy food processor needed, I make it right in my blender.

2 garlic cloves, minced and mashed
1 15 oz can of garbanzo beans, drained
1/3 cup of tahini (roasted not raw)
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 tsp salt

I put all of that in my blender and blend till smooth-I add a little water if it needs to get "unstuck" and thinner.

  5. My son loves hummus and I would love to make my own instead of buying it in the grocery story. Where do I find tahini? I have never heard of it and don't know where to look?
PS-I have tried several of your recipes and they have all been delicious.

  6. I made this today....TWICE! I tried it on a whim. We are blessed to have amazing middle eastern food due to where we live and so, to be honest, I wasn't expecting much. We have NEVER liked any homemade hummus, until now. My husband couldn't get over it. The pita chips were delicious too. Like I said I had to make the chips twice. Thanks for the great recipe.

My 4 year old boys are also big fans of your individual pizzas, as am I. We plan to try more recipes and look forward to the results.

  7. I love hummus! I recently read another recipe that suggested creaming the tahini and lemon juice together first then adding all of the other ingredients. For some reason it makes the hummus creamier instead of "flaky" with all of those hulls from the chickpeas.
