About My Recipes

nothing fancy, just food kids will eat

I HAVE to cook. Would I, if I didn't have to? No. I'd go days without eating anything but chocolate and the occasional salad to keep me alive.  I'd never go grocery shopping and never buy a cookbook. Ohhh, to dream.

But here I am. A mother to 5 and wife to one, and all eyes our on ME when it comes to food.  Like most mothers, I've never taken a fancy cooking lesson.  I am too busy trying to feed 4 hungry sons and a daughter that can put them to shame. I own just the basic kitchen equipment, and live in a modest house with a modest kitchen.  I think family meals are so important, and although we can't all come together every night, I strive to make that happen as much as possible.

That means I am forced to have a good chunk of my life be taken up by planning, shopping, preparing, cooking and baking, cleaning up and then starting all over again. I have stream lined that process as much as possible over the years and have come up with my main objectives.

I want to feed my family good, home-cooked food but I don't want to:

1. Dice anything for hours.
2. Drive across town to obscure gourmet markets.
3. Read cookbooks instead of good books.
4. Spend time and money making something no one likes.
5. Be in the kitchen during the witching hours of parenting (3-6 p.m.).

The recipes on this blog encapsulate all of the above.
Enjoy!
